About

Hello, I'm Annie

I believe women deserve to feel heard, informed and supported through pregnancy, birth and becoming a mother.

Wise & With Child grew from something I came to understand during almost 30 years spent alongside women and families as a nurse and midwife: that good information matters, but so does feeling heard, supported and able to trust yourself.

There is an extraordinary amount of information surrounding pregnancy and birth - and more of it available now than ever before.

But more information doesn't always make things easier.
Sometimes it can make it harder to hear your own voice amongst all the advice, opinions, expectations and 'shoulds'.

I created Wise & With Child because I don't believe women need another voice telling them the "right" way to do pregnancy, birth or motherhood.

Without doubt, they need good information. But, also they need to understand their choices and to feel heard and supported.

And, somewhere amongst all of that, they need space to discover what feels right for them.

Why this matters to me

During my years as a midwife, I learned that good care isn't only about what happens clinically.
It's also about how a woman feels within the experience.
Whether she feels listened to. Whether she understands what's happening. Whether she feels able to ask questions and be involved in decisions about her own care.

I saw again and again how much thoughtful support matters - not because it can guarantee how birth will unfold, but because nobody should feel that birth is simply a 'process' that happening to them.

That understanding has stayed with me long after I left midwifery. And it sits at the heart of everything I create through Wise & With Child.

Over the years, I've also trained and worked in a number of healing therapies and coaching techniques, which has deepened my understanding of intuition, emotional wellbeing and the connection between what we know in our minds and what we sense within ourselves.

I don't believe those things need to sit on opposite sides.
Knowledge matters. But, so does your own knowing.

Wise & With Child brings those worlds together - practical, grounded information alongside encouragement to listen to yourself, ask questions and discover what feels right for you.

Support shouldn't be a luxury

I also know that preparing for a baby can become expensive very quickly.
There are endless lists of things you're told you need, and some forms of pregnancy and birth support simply aren't affordable for every family.

I want Wise & With Child to do things differently.

Where I can, I'll keep the resources I create thoughtfully priced and genuinely useful, because good information and meaningful support shouldn't feel like luxuries reserved for those with the biggest budgets.

But, that doesn't mean filling your basket with cheap things you don't need.

Quite the opposite.
I'd rather help you recognise what matters - so you can leave the rest.

What you'll find here

Everything at Wise & With Child should earn its place.
Sometimes that will be something I've created - a guide, a book, a programme or a quiet resource to return to when the world feels particularly noisy.

And, as Wise & With Child grows, there may also be things I've carefully chosen because I genuinely believe they're useful.

But the principle will remain the same:
No fear. No judgement. No endless list of things you're told you need.

Just knowledge, thoughtful support and encouragement to understand your choices and trust yourself to make them.

Wise & With Child isn't here to tell you the way.
It's here to help you find your own.
